Buffalo, We Have A Bright Spot

Sometimes it is easy to create a Bright Spot. There is a frequent misquote that says: "Houston, we have a problem." What the astronauts on Apollo 13 actually said was: "Houston, we've had a problem." What if the Superintendent of the Buffalo Schools, Dr. James Williams and the Mayor of Buffalo, Byron Brown got together and faced the public and said: "Buffalo, we have a problem." They could just as easily say: "Buffalo, we've had a problem." Problems are opportunities for change. We can now rephrase that famous misquote and say: "BUFFALO, WE HAVE A BRIGHT SPOT."

Dr. Williams and Mr. Mayor please step up to the plate and assemble a team of Educators that include Administrators, Teachers, Parents, Union Officials and concerned citizens. Our schools are failing and our city is still amongst the poorest in the nation. Isn't that enough evidence that demands a verdict?
Bright Spots come in many forms, a simple admission of a problem can become a seed of change.

Go do something nice for somebody.
