Last Sunday (12-28-14) Linda and I were invited to Immanuel Ministries to share what God is doing through Youth With A Purpose Inc. Our time was "fruitful and friend-making!" During the worship, there was a song that gave me a vision of how God knits folks together. The stringed instruments represented sinews and nerve endings. Piano keys introduced heartbeats and the breath of God was a rising crescendo of all the instruments. All of it represented the birth of new life and the peaceful end of life. It was the Alpha and Omega in the blink of an eye.
When I stepped to the podium, I had tears in my eyes from the powerfulness of the vision. I shared stories about God and YWAP along with how God has directed me in His plan for YWAP. Pastors Scott and Jennifer Johnson are 2 incredibly real and genuine people. They've got joy written all over their faces and compassion is delivered with a smile. If you'd like to visit a church in the Java/Strykersville, New York Area and you're looking for real folks with energy and love - THIS IS THE PLACE!
Pastor Scott shared his vision for a youth center across the street. Please add that to your prayer list and let us know if you have a prayer request.
Here are my notes about Applying the Life of Jesus and the Conception and Birth of a Vision.
Applying the Life of Jesus
Everything has a beginning - your life, your family, your purpose, your ministry, your relationships, your business, your life as a student - everything has a beginning. This morning I'd like to take you on a journey that tells a little of the story of how Youth With A Purpose was created and how YWAP is continually being recreated. God speaks through the Holy Sprit using the Bible, prayer, circumstances and people as His voice.Five Steps in the Conception and Birth of a Vision
1. God's Vision - Jesus life was foretold. The Bible is prophetic promise for your life. Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 29:11-13 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
2. God's Action - Jesus was born. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. God parted the waters of a virgin's womb.
3. God's Partnership - Jesus invites us into partnership with Him. - Jesus was baptized (we repent.) Surrender - Jesus allowed John to baptize Him. Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
4. Death - Jesus died. Your vision must become formless. Genesis 1:1-2 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
5. Complete and Implement - Jesus was raised up. 1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, John 3:5-7 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’
• The call of God in your life should be a living hope that draws others into a resurrected life with Christ.
• The contagiousness of the Holy Spirit will manifest itself through God's purpose for your life.
• The borders of your life will be enlarged through the surrender of your heart to God.
